Barry J. Brown, Esq. 

Barry Brown brings a broad spectrum of practical business and tax advice to his clients.


He advises clients on Federal income, gift and estate tax matters, as well as Maine income, sales and property tax issues. He represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and Maine Revenue Services. He also handles appeals from these bodies to the courts. His estate planning practice includes simple and complex wills and trusts, and related matters.


He was born in Portland, Maine, and established his practice in 1986 after working at Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) and then Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) upon graduation.

Barry is a member of the Maine State and American Bar Associations and the latter’s Taxation and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law sections.

Barry graduated from Bates College and received his law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center. He also earned a Masters degree in taxation from Boston University. 


Michael P. Kelly, CPA

Mike is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s College in 2005 with a bachelors degree in Accounting. Prior to joining Brown & Kelly, LLC in 2019, he worked for two local public accounting firms for over 15 years.


Mike is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the Maine Society of CPA's, and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


Mike specializes in corporate and individual tax compliance for clients of all shapes in sizes. He has a background in attestation services, including audits, reviews and compilations for small businesses and nonprofit organizations. 


Mike is passionate about working with local small business owners to help grow their business and minimize their tax liability to the fullest extent. 


Mike lives in Falmouth with his wife Heather, and three young children, Bryson, Lyla, and Nolan. When he is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and is an avid New England sports fan


Rudy Labrecque, Manager

Rudy Labrecque brings a unique combination of assets to the practice: he has 8 years of public accounting experience working as a CPA doing both audit and tax work, and over 25 years of experience working in the private sector as controller and CFO for several local businesses.


Rudy has the accounting expertise to handle any business or personal tax problem, with the real life experience that brings a practical perspective to his work. Clients love working with Rudy because he’s friendly, helpful, nice and there is no question he can’t answer!


He helps clients with technical issues as well as QuickBook basics, all with his patient and clear manner. Rudy’s a highly valued member of our team.


Linda Sabourin, Office Manager/Paralegal

Linda Sabourin combines superior professionalism with a fresh and friendly attitude. Linda is helpful and always maintains a wonderful sense of humor  no matter what the issue, problem or challenge.


With a background in legal/medical office management, she has worked as a paralegal in setting up corporations, LLC’s, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, leases and other contracts.


Her superior organizational skills keep the office humming, and her attention to detail, when it comes to client service, is exceptional.


Susan Bassi Brown, MBA

Susan Bassi Brown brings over 20 years of practical experience as a CFO for small businesses to her work at the firm.  


An MBA, Susan works on tax returns, but also takes care of internal communications and IT needs. During the year, Susan works as a consultant, specializing in software applications and human resources issues.


During tax season, she works the “nights and weekends shift”, always happy to see April 15th arrive.

Andrew Slattery, CPA, Senior Accountant

Andrew is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a bachelors degree in accounting.  Prior to joining Brown and Kelly, LLC in the fall of 2020, he worked for two local public accounting firms, and has over 7 years of tax and accounting experience. 


Andrew’s experience in public accounting has been primarily focused on tax compliance.  He works closely with individuals and small business owners to help with their compliance needs, while staying focused on their long-term planning goals.  


Andrew currently lives in Auburn and enjoys spending his time outside of work on the golf course competing in state amateur tournaments.


Christine Heinemann, CPA, Senior Accountant

Christine is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire in 2015 with a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Management. In 2017 she earned her Masters in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University.


In 2019 Christine obtained her Certified Public Accountant designation and is a member of the Maine Society of CPA’s (MECPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).


Christine began her career in public accounting in 2016 with a local public accounting firm that later merged with a nationally recognized firm before joining Brown and Kelly. At the local firm Christine learned the fundamentals of accounting and tax compliance and planning strategies for individuals, corporates and trusts and estates. She has grown to enjoy helping clients with the accounting and federal and state tax compliance in various types of industries and clients of various sizes.   


Christine lives in Cape Elizabeth with her fiancé. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outside running, hiking, biking and the occasional game of golf
